Note: N1478 !2010: Info from "Barbara Caramba-Coker" <rootsreality@@yahoo.com>. From what I understand Jewell Edna was married first to Earl F. Hanks. Everyone on the Hanks side says that Earl was "was mean" to Jewell. They had a son, Corwin Harris Hanks, in 1924. Jewell apparently had a long term affair between 1924 and 1930. Supposedly her next child, William Inman Hanks/Ham, was a result of the affair and not a descendant of Earl Hanks. Jewell left Earl and moved west with her baby and her new beau, Joseph Malcolm Ham. Corwin was left to live with his father. In 1936 Jewell married Joseph Ham and he took over as William's father. Somewhere in this period the child's surname was changed from Hanks to Ham.
