  !24 Apr 1910: Mrs. Sarah Silver was born in Herefordshire, England, May 17, 1825. She came to America when quite young and settled in Illinois, later coming to Nebraska, and was one of the first settlers in Seward county. Mrs. Silver was married twice. February 18, 1845, she was united in marriage to James Roberts. To them were born six children, three dying when quite young. Henry, of Buda, Ill., Mrs. J. C. Fairbrother of Staplehurst, Neb. and Mrs. G. W. Nelson of Montrose, Colorado, are living. Mr. Roberts died April 24, 1898. Mrs. Robert's marriage to Richard Silver was solemnized at College View, March 28, 1903. Mr. Silver died during 1906. Mrs. Silver died on Sunday, April 24, 1910, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fairbrother, about eight miles northwest of Seward, where funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, Rev.   !1911: Moved to Montrose Colorado according to article in the Montrose Daily Press, Montrose, Colorado on March 24, 1931. Mrs. George Nelson, former Montrose resident, passed away Sunday Evening in University Hospital at Iowa City, Iowa. She had been ill for the past two years and in the hospital since December 15. She was 63 years of age and came to Montrose about 20 years ago and was a practical nurse. Left after a number of years residence in the valley went to the middle west. Came back and lived on Bostwick Park until two years ago when her bad health caused her to live with her daughter Mrs Myrna Bench at Clarinda Iowa. Survived by her husband, two brothers, four children. Children were Clive Nelson of Montrose; Mrs. Alvin Rouse of Carrizo Springs, Texas; Mrs Myrna Bench of Clarinda, Iowa and Clifford Nelson Of Washington, D.C.. Internment probably at Seward, Nebraska.   !7 May 1942: "George W. Nelson, Ranchman, Dies. George Wesley Nelson, 85, succumbed Wednesday in Montrose, where he had made his home the past ten years. He was born near Gainsville, O, on March 18, 1857. Prior to coming to Montrose, Mr. Nelson lived at Seward, Neb., where he was a rancher and livestock man. Four children survive. They are Clive H. Nelson, Montrose; Clifford L. Nelson, Washington, D. C.; Laura Rouse, Canizzo Springs, Tex., and Merna Bench, Clarinda, IA. Nine grandchildren survive also. Funeral arrangements in charge of Montrose Funeral Home, will be announced. Internment will be at Seward, Neb., former home of Mr. Nelson." From the Montrose Daily Press, Thurs.   !1942: George W. Nelson was born March 18, 1857, at Zanesville, Ohio. When a small boy he came with his father and mother, Henry and Mary Nelson, to Wahoo, Nebr., and lived on a farm near there. Later he came to Seward county and settled on a farm 2 1/2 miles west of Seward. practically all of his life was spent on a farm out in this part of Nebraska. He was married to Clara Catherine Roberts, Sept. 26th 1884. To this union were born six children, Nellie and Irma dying in infancy. The four living children are Clive H. Nelson of Montrose Colo.; Lura H. Rouse of Carrigo Springs, Texas; Merna M. Bench of Clarinda, Iowa; and Capt. Clifford L. Nelson of Silver Springs MD. There are also eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren living. Mrs. Nelson, the wife and mother, died some eleven years ago. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge. He was in good health and lived an active life up until his last illness. He has been ill since last November. He died on May 6th 1942, while living in Montrose Colo. The remains were brought to Seward for burial, and funeral services were held at the Chain & Wood Chapel at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Re. Chas. W. McCaskill of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Anderson Cemetery west of town. Seward Independent, Seward, Nebraska, 5/13/42
