  !1935: James A. Dowding was born at Monmouthshire, England at Red Hill near the river Rye, on May 19, 1848. When a lad of a about twelve years, he came with his parents to America where the family settled at Buda, Ill. He was united in marriage to Emma S. Roberts at Buda, Ill., and to this union six children were born, five of whom survive him; Mrs. E. I. Meyers of Bancroft, Nebr., Louis E. Dowding of Palm Springs, Calif., Mrs. Frank H. (Nellie) Newton of Milford, Nebr., and Will and Floyd Dowding of Seward. He came to Seward in 1887 and was a resident here for many years, being engaged in the jewelry and watch repair business. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and was a prominent member of the organization. For the past seven years he has been a resident of the Odd Fellows Home at York, Nebr. Besides his children, he is survived by two brothers, Howell Dowding of Sedalia, Mo. and Charles Dowding of Buda, Ill. Funeral services were held at the Home in York, Nebr., Sunday, October 13 and burial was at Seward, Nebr., Rev. L. C. Fuqua officiating. Card of Thanks
