 Dear Tuck,
Please change my papers from 800 Florida street, Amarillo, to 1420 Boyce Street, Fort Worth. Fort Worth is alright, I guess, but I prefer the Amarillo papers, also the town. Mr Howren is engineering the Blue Bonnet Hills addition. It will take about 2 months to complete it. It will be a very beautiful addition when completed. Thank you in advance for changing my papers. [now called "Bluebonnet Place" subdivision - it is close to TCU]

These are all the records I can find in this old Bible, it is all to pieces. It is not worn out from use, but from handling it or thrown around. See, Dell [Della Bodine Courtney] took or started to take all the records to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico with her when they lost the only suitcase with the records. I wanted her to leave it with me, but she said no, she would not part with it. Then she wished she had left it with me. It cannot be replaced any more. Do hope this will help you in your search in tracing all this.
I also have the letters from Sue Cooper, but they are copies of the ones you have. If you would write to her, she could give you some information as how to contact the places she contacted.
As to us moving in the covered wagons, we did. We left Megargle, Texas, I do not remember the year. We went to Snyder, Texas, lived there about 4 years, then back to New Mexico. The stock were driven with us. We just happened to be living in New Mexico, when Rex [Rex Leon Blair] was born. He was a small baby when we moved to Megargle. Jason [Jason Samson Blair] always wanted to go someplace else, and when he got there, he started in on Dad [Francis Marion Blair] to move there, for it was the best country in the world. When Jason moved to Post, we moved on to his place and stayed there for about 4 years, if I remember right. Then he sold it and we had to move, so we followed Jason again. Then Dad decided to move back to New Mexico. You know it from there. I guess Llano is the name of the cemetery where they are buried. So is Ina [Ina Winona Blair], our older sister. I have not tried to find the graves since Rue & Gale [Rue Beatrice Blair & Milton Rue Hart], Leo & Pete [Leo Joy Blair & Peter Sweet] were here. I still feel I could go right to it. Mama's baby [baby not named] was buried in Megargle. So was Ina's first baby [baby not named]. I think I am the one that sent you the letter from George. I remember the names, do not remember the contents. As to the Indian blood, I do recall Dad saying that granny Courtney's grandmother or great grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. And they had filled out the papers for the inharents of Oklahoma that it was one of the best that had ever been sent in, but when things were about to be settled, they got word the courthouse had burned down and all records lost. But they thought is was all hooey. They wanted to collect on all of it, for it was a fortune at that time. Now Dell denied that there was any Indian blood, she would not have it. There was a girl that lived with them, I have forgotten her name, that she was the one that had the Indian blood. She told me this next to the last time that I was there. So many things had been told to me that I did not pay any attention to, but now wished I had, but I was so [last line cut off]
I have the Courtney family Bible, but there is no information in it. I am sending you all I have. I gave Leo and Rue some when they were here, I will mail you the records that Sue Cooper sent to me, so you can copy them and send them back to me, for I don't have the time to try to copy them and I am not a very good typist, I just hunt and peck. I cannot see to type. Dell [Della Bodine Courtney] and Myrtle [Myrtle Nell Courtney] are buried in Topeka, Kansas, I do not know the name of the cemetery. Myrtle remarried and I lost her name, and she did not give me her new address. I wrote to the old one, but no answer. Dave [Louis David Courtney] is buried here just across the street from Ina's grave. The stone or just a small marker is gone. I know where it is when I am there.
George [George Edward Courtney] is buried in Ft Worth. Aunt Lou [Louthena Stepp] was George's wife and she is also buried in Ft Worth. Their children were Emma, Edgar, Clarence, Loyd (he had surgery and died), there was another boy next [Ralph], then Gladys. They had some other boy I think, but I don't remember his name. When we lived in Weatherford, I went over to Ft Worth to see them. Aunt Lou told about this boy, they had a calf and they had to water it every day at noon when he came home for lunch. He would not let the water in the tub, but made the calf to drink out of the faucet. Just kid stuff. One Christmas in Haskell, we all went to Granny's [Francis Malinda Stapleton] for dinner, and they said you kids, get outside and play. So we did, we went onto the haystack and climbed onto it and slid down and of course we ruined the stack. One time Dad and George [George Edward Courtney] and Henry [I don't know] were stacking cane for the cows, or it was a rick. They would take 3 wagons at a time to the field and load them and bring all in. But this time while they were gone, we decided to make horses out of the stack, so we climbed up on it and made a saddle apiece. They had to tear the whole rick down and we got our behinds paddled, I guess (I don't remember that part). Then one time Mama put the feather bed on the line to air, and there was dew on the grass, but that was all right with us. We got on the bed and jumped up and down, so Mama had to wash the whole mattress a little at a time, we were kids.
This that I have on the Blair's. We were at Aunt Jessie's [Ellen Jessamine Blair] one time and she gave it to me and I copied it and sent it all back. But the most she had burned when their house had burned there in Arkansas. These people that will lose things, I lost my address book and have not been able to find it for two years. I had so many dates and information that I cannot replace to save my life.
I am sending you this, it is all I have so do take good care of it. I know now that I had the only picture of Granddaddy Blair [James Monroe Blair] and threw it away. I sent it to Kate, thought it might me one of theirs, but they sent it back and said no it was not. So did not know who it was so I destroyed. Since then I know it was he. It was in Della's things, and she did love Uncle Jim, as she called him. He was wearing a beard. I remember that she told me that he always wore a long beard.
You just put stories and things out of your mind that you hear, and think that I will recall them later, and do not. Then when you think again, they are gone. Seems I have given you such a little to go on. Maybe you can connect this and what Ora [Ora Lillian Blair] and Leo Leo Joy Blair] gave you, and it will all make sense.
Vernas ??? maybe in this material. If so you might write to her and find out something more than I have given you. I have wracked my brain to remember some of the things that dad and granny Blair have told me, but to save my life I cannot think. Write again when you have the time. We love to hear. Bill [William Davis Howren] is doing alright. He is getting so weak he cannot get out of the tub. I have to haul him out. He weighs 106 pounds, so thin.
  Love Doris [Fay Doris Blair]
