Note: OBITUARY: "The Cassopolis Vigilant", May 27, 1897 -- Adam Miller, aged 64 years, died at his home in Jefferson Sunday morning. Funeral yesterday from the Presbyterian church, this city. Remains interred in the Edwardsburg cemetery. Adam Miller was born in Milton township, Cass county, Michigan, June 6, 1832 and departed this life Sunday, May 23, 1897 after a brief illness. He was a son of Rev. John P. Miller, a pioneer Christian minister. Deceased was untied in marriage to Sarah A. Lumpkin, Nov 26, 1857 and to them four children were born, two sons - Frank at Edwardsburg and William at Goshen, Inbd. and two daughters - Myrta and Alice, living at home. These with his devoted wife, survive to mourn the family's first loss by death. Four brothers and five sisters of Mr. Miller survive him also. Mr. Miller united wtih the Christian Church in Jefferson during the winter of 1877, and remained a faithful member and consistent Christian until death. When young he became a member of the I.O.O. F. at Edwardsburg. He was a kind husband, an indulgent father, and good neighbor. His work on earth is done, he rests from his labors and has gone to receive the crown accorded to the faithful. Funeral services were conducted by the Odd Fellows at Edwardburg yesterday, in the Presbyterian church, the M.E. paster residing. A large concourse of people were in attendance, and interment was made in the Edwardsburg Cemetery. ref: Cassopolis Vigilant May 27, 1897.
