  First wife, Hannah (HALL), died April 26, 1831, burial location unknown. Second wife, Mary, on opposite side of stone.
  John was the son of Samuel and Martha Tuttle (burial locations unknown). He is a descendant of William and Elizabeth Tuttle who sailed from England in 1635 on the ship "Planter".
  In 1815 and 1816 about thirty families emigrated from Oneida County, NY, to this part of Pennsylvania. Among them was John Tuttle, who settled on the site of the village of Wrightsville, and for many years had a wagon shop.
  John was an excellent mechanic and the author of several patents. He built a steamboat for the Allegheny River, but, owing to an accident, it was soon destroyed.
