Sept. 5, 1690; d. Oct. 13, 1742, dau. of Richard and Lydia (Trowbridge) Rosewell. Her personal property came into pssession of her step-dau., Mehitable, who m. her first cousin, Daniel Trowbridge. Her mother, Lydia, inherited considerable property from her nephew, JOHN HODGSON, who died 1720. Agreement by Francis Brown to JOSHUA TUTTLE in regard to land "that comes to me from my grandfather, Mr. WILLIAM TUTTLE, through my mother, now deceased." The will of Capt. Francis Brown, dated 1736-7, exhib. son Stephen 1741. Dec. 6, 1741 Stephen was allowed a fortnight to show inventory £8907, 12s 8d, old tenor. A considerable quantity of jewelry and silver plate appears, of which a silver tankard, weight 34¼ oz., value, £52 4s; a silver tankard, weight 22½ oz., value, £85 8s 9d; a silver cup, weight 18 oz., value, £20 9s 6d; a silver cup, weight 10¼ oz., value, £16 2s 9d; eight silver spoons, eight, 13½ oz., value, £21 5s 3d; one pair gold buttons, £3 12s; twelve bills of credit, £5, 5s 11d; jewels, £643 9s 4d; 37¾ acres of land in 5th division, bought of Tuttle, £75 15s. In Aug., 1743, Mr. WILLIAM GREENOUGH and CATHERINE (ROSEWELL), his wife, sister of Elizabeth above, appealed to Court of Probate concerning the concealing of goods and credits of the late Capt. Francis Brown. The will names "son John, for whom I have expended £100 for his education at ye college." In 1742 John, Samuel, Stephen and Timothy Brown convey to Daniel Trowbridge and sister Mabel, his wife."
