 "TUTTLE, GEHEIL (JEHEIL). Born in Conn. about 1755. Died 1824. Buried at Quality Hill(Madison County, NY). His father and mother came from England and returned there to die in their old age. Jehiel was a Revolutionary soldier in Conn. He married in Conn. and had 5 children born there. His wife died and he and his children came to New York State. In Johnstoen (sic), N.Y. he was married a second time to Abigail Woodruth (Woodruff) and had 11 children more. She survived him and was alive in 1832 when she was a witness to a deed. Jeheil (Geheil and sometimes spelled Ahiel) settled in Watson Hollow (Madison County, NY) before 1798. His children - not given in order of birth as that is not known
 (1) Stephen married Isabel Averill, lived at Hamilton, C.W. Canada.
 (2) John 1794 - 19 Aug 1830, Buried at Quality Hill(Madison County, NY). Bought land in Canastota bordering the Erie Canal and had a grocery store. Wife Polly. His sister Mary also owned this property at one time.
 (3) Abraham 8 Feb 1786 - 26 Feb 1832.
 (4) Solomon. In Jan. 1808, he sued Joseph Sutten and Michael Kern.
 (5) Isaac lived in Watson Hollow 1827. Deeded father's property in 1824. Wife and children are buried at Pratt's Hollow.
 (6) Sena 1783 (probably) wife of Jacob Kern.
 (7) Mary lived at Canastota 1830. Owned same store as her brother John.

 (9) Jacob born in Watson Hollow 18 Mar 1798. Left home when 19. Worked on the Erie Canal which was being built at Lockport for 2 years. Went to Hamiltyon (sic), Canada and worked for 5 years on a farm. Married a sister to Stephen's wife and removed to Reid's Landing, Michigan. In 1863 moved to Memoninee, Wisconsin. Died at Stanton, Wisconsin 16 Dec 1880. Aged 83. Married Lois Averill. She was born 16 Nov 1804. They had 13 children. (a) Abraham married 1850 Mary Cornwell. (b) Mary died 1863. Married David Stockton and had 11 children. (c) Sarah Elizabeth married Thomas Faulds. Lived in Muncie, Ontario, Canada. Had 9 children. (d) Isaac married 1857 Harriet Drew. Lived in Knapp, Dunn County, Wisconsin and had a large family. (e) Jacob married 1855 Eliza Marshall who died 1871. They had several children and lived at Edmore, Michigan. (f) Margaret married 1854 John Wisemiller and had a large family. Lived at Stanton, Dunn County, Wisconsin. (g) Eliza Jane died 1840 aged 2. (h) Mercy Maria died 1852 aged 16. (i) Martha Ann married Jacob Miller 1857. Lived at Menominee, Wisconsin. (j) John born 11 Apr 1843. Served in the Civil War. 97th New York Volunteers. Moved to San Francisco, California. Had a large brick making plant. Married 16 Feb 1881 Emma B. Hawes, Daughter Lois Aurey born 27 Jan 1882. (k) Albert Jaheil born 10 Apr 1848. Married 4 Dec 1881 Nellie D. Avery. He was with his brother John in the brick yard at San Francisco. (l) George Wesley has descendants living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. End of Jacob's line.
