"Ransom b. 7 Nov 1826, m: Lucinda, dau. of Wyliis Avery of Salisbury, NY, she d. in Cuba, Allegany Co., NY 12 Mar 1874 in her 46th year. The Cuba Herald of April 3 following, contains an obituary of a column and a half in length, consisting of addresses delivered by Rev. L. P. Blackford and Rev. F. M. Alvord, to a large congregation, which attended the funeral services at the Universalist church; in which she is described as a lady of a bright and joyous nature, carrying sunshine with her wherever she went; of artictic tastes; a lover of the beautiful; a pure and a good woman, and generally of such amiability and excellence of character that, if she had faults, it would be difficult for those who knew her best to tell what they were."
