a. Note:   Catskill NY Recorder WEDNESDAY, OCT. 1, 1828. WINDHAM MEETING: At a meeting of the Young Men of the town of Windham, friendly to the Election of Gen. Andrew JACKSON, held at the House of SIDNEY TUTTLE, Esq. on the 19th of September 1828, Levi H. ALDEN, Esq. was called to the Chair, and Geo. WHITE, Esq. appointed Secretary. The following Resolutions were unanimously passed--Resolved, That we repose full confidence in the talents, integrity and patriotism of Gen. Andrew JACKSON, and that his eminent qualifications and distinguished services denote him a safe depository for power, and richly entitle him to the first honors of his country, and that we will use all honorable means to promote his election to the next Presidency of the United States.-Resolved, That the Conduct of John Quincy ADAMS, whether considered in reference to his abandonment of the federal party in the time of their greatest need, his pretended conversion to democracy, and hypocritical zeal manifested by his violent and implacable persecution of his former friends, and his hasty and indiscriminate support of republican measures; his late temporizing movements to secure the favor and influence of the federal party in promoting his recent elevation to office; his corrupt agreement with Henry CLAY to seize on the reins of Government in defiance of the publicly expressed voice of a majority of the People; his pusillanimous and short sighted measures in suffering the loss of the West India Trade, and in permitting the ravages on our South American Commerce to remain unatoned; his late signal profanation of the Sabbath; his contemptible efforts at electioneering with the Anti Masons of this state; and above all his practiced duplicity renders him unworthy the confidence and support of all honest men, and calls loudly on the redeeming spirit of our country.-Resolved, That we cordially approve of the "Young Men of the State of New York friendly to the election of General Jackson -assembling in Convention at Herkimer on the 1st Monday of October next.-Resolved, That the proceedings of this meeting be signed by the Chairman and Secretary and published;LEVI H.
