 "Beri Tuttle, b. April 29, 1761; m. Charity, dau. of Dayton and Charity Beadles Johnson. Their dau., Mrs. Mary Jones, gives the following account of the manner of his death on the 11th of May 1807: "Aparty of men were building a bridge over the Quinnipiac River at Wallingford, Conn., when one of them fell into the water. One of his companions sprung to his rescue, and was drawn under by the drowning man. Beri then sprang in, was caught in their drowning grasp, and all three perished together." "He was," says his dau., "a man of great energy." His widow died Jan. 31, 1814, age 52."
