Dec. 30, 1818, Amy Smith of Camden who was born Feb. 27, 1801, and celebrated their golden wedding in Munson, Ill., Dec. 30, 1868, of which an interesting account containing valuable historical matter was published in the Munson Republic. They removed to Trivoli, Ill., Sept. 1848, thence to Munson in 1852; at that time the whole country between Cambridge and Geneseo, on chicago & Rock Island R. R., was an unbroken wilderness, not a single house between the two points. Here he worked hard to improve his farm, enduring patiently the hardships and privations of pioneer life. He has filled various offices. "More than 60 years ago," he writes, "in my childhood I recollect seeing two of my grandfather's brothers in Camden, N.Y., on a visit to my grandfather Noah. I think their names were Ebenezer and Lucius." From an obituary, half a column long, published in the local paper we learn that Mr. Orris Tuttle died on Monday night, Jan. 1, 1877, at the residence of his son, Lewis Lyman Tuttle in Orient township, (Adair County) Ill. [NOTE: Find-A-Grave web site shows Orris is buried in Orient Cemetery, Orient, Adair County, Iowa.] "Father Tuttle was loved by all who knew him for his unvarying charity and kindness of spirit; his ever ready helping hand and his uniform observance of the golden rule. He was of strong mind and constitution, seldom sick and retained his faculties to the last. Just before the end he asked 'Mother Tuttle' if she thought he was dying. She replied: 'Father, I don't know.' He then remarked: 'It matters not; you will soon be with me again.'" "He died being old and full of days." After a funeral discourse by the Rev. J. B. Dunn, his remains were followed by a large funeral procession to the Orient Cemetery."
