 "Drowned in Oriskany Creek, Clinton Village, Kirkland, Oneida County, N.Y."
 "Few eyes in Clinton slept that night. The late Nehemiah Jones, knowing that there would be no clergyman found west of Albany, NY took a volume of sermons, in which there was one on the death of a young man who was drowned. After prayer by Capt. Ford, he read that sermon; I Samuel 10:31: "There is but a step between me and death." Her grave was first dug on the green, but it being thought too wet, she was buried in the south part of the present burying ground, which was then a part of her father's farm. Major Barnabas Pond informed the author that he dug her grave, and every other subsequently until over one hundred."---Jones' History of Oneida County, N.Y."
