Note: POSTED ON FIND-A-GRAVE WEB SITE: Birth: 1777 New Haven County, Connecticut, USA Death: Aug. 6, 1814 Williamsville, Erie County, New York, USA Charles Tuttle was 5' 9" tall, with dark complexion, hair and eyes. He was age 37 and a farmer residing in Hampden, New Haven County, CT when he enlisted on March 14, 1814. His period of enlistment was for the duration of the war, and he entered the service as a private in the 25th U. S. Infantry, under company commander Capt. D. Ketcham (or Ketchum).
