  Charles Tuttle was 5' 9" tall, with dark complexion, hair and eyes. He was age 37 and a farmer residing in Hampden, New Haven County, CT when he enlisted on March 14, 1814. His period of enlistment was for the duration of the war, and he entered the service as a private in the 25th U. S. Infantry, under company commander Capt. D. Ketcham (or Ketchum). Less than five months later, he died on August 6, 1814 at Williamsville NY, of sickness.
