He was much interested in this family history, and with his bro., Benajah, collected for this work a large proportion of the record of his gr. f. Uri Tuttle's desc. He had a fine tenor voice, and sang with feeling and effect the simple music used in the New England country churches. He was a hard working, honest, faithful, affectionate and pious man, ambitious only to do right. Once, while visiting his cousin, A. A. Marks, then living in N. Y. City, he passed a ferry gate unobserved, not knowing that a fare was due. On mentioning the circumstance to his host, and being informed that he had "run the gate," he returned to the ferry, a considerable distance, and relieved his burdened conscience by paying the one or two cent fare.--Compiler.
