Note: Deb Bernard Reports Burial In Illinois: Another burial site has been found for Joseph S. Axtell. He is also listed in the Roseville cemetery in Roseville, Warren county, Illinois. He apparently died enroute from Mercer county to Warren county with his family and is buried with Elizabeth there. The mystery is yet to be solved! More to come. Contact me for more information. It may be possible he is the owner of a lot in Fairfield and another family member is buried there. His first wife was Eunice Tuttle by whom he had five children; Mary, Thomas, Sarah, Elizabeth and Ruth. Thomas and Sarah died as children in 1817 and 1816, Eunice followed in 1820. They are probably in Mercer county, PA.
