 "Stephen Tuttle was born May 20, 1673. He removed to Woodbridge, NJ, where his name first appears on a land record, April 17, 1695, as grantee of 6 acres of high land which was laid out to him Dec. 21 of the same year. He bought 6 acres adjoining of John Robinson, blacksmith, deed dated Nov. 13, 1701, in which Joseph Tuttle is names. At town meeting Jan. 1, 1697, Stephen Tuttle was chosen constable for the year ensuing. His name stands forth on the list of church members. He married in Woodbridge, NJ, by Samuel Hale, Justice of the Peace, Sept. 12, 1695, Ruth Fitz Randolph of Woodbridge of the Family from which Go. Randolph is descended. His Will dated Oct. 20, 1709, and recorded in Trenton, NJ the same year names cousin John Cooper; son Timothy to have the house; sons Joseph and Stephen to have 10 Pounds each; Samuel not named; Joseph to be sent to New Haven to Theophilis Munson. On April 9, 1725, Timothy, Joseph and Stephen Tuttle of Newark received of Danial Brittan and John Cooper, executors of the full Will of Stephen Tuttle of Woodbridge, deceased, 350 Pounds in current money in full."

 "William TUTTLE, wife Elizabeth and three children came to Boston, Mass., in Ship "Planter" from Northhampton, Eng., 1635, and soon after moved to New Haven, Conn., where his son Joseph married Hannah MUNSON 1667 and had a son Stephen, born at New Haven May 20, 1673. Stephen married Ruth Fritz RANDOLPH, removed to Woodbridge, NJ, where he died in 1709. Will names children: Timothy, Joseph, Stephen and Samuel, and a cousin John COOPER.
 Timothy TUTTLE, born at Woodbridge, NJ, Oct. 16, 1696, married Cecelia MOORE, 1724, removed to Hanover, in Morris county, where he died Dec. 31, 1754. His wife was born 1700, and was buried at Hanover, July 3, 1768. Will names children: Daniel, Isaac, Stephen, Abraham, Mary and Joanna.
 Capt. Daniel lived at Hanover and had fifteen children, of which five served in the Revolution. Capt. William, son of Capt. Daniel, was born Nov. 5, 1760, married Tempe WICK, daughter of Henry.
 Henry WICK was born Oct. 23, 1707, died Dec. 21, 1780. He married Mary COOPER. She was born Apr. 4, 1718, died July 7, 1787. Children: Henry, Jr., born Mar. 9, 1737, married Elizabeth COOPER Feb. 7, 1760, died Sept. 10, 1781. Mary, born Aug. 13, 1739, married Dr. Ebenezer BLACHLY June 19, 1758, died Sept. 18, 1796. James, born Dec. 19, 1741, died young; Phebe, born Nov. 9, 1746, married Dr. William LEDDLE; Tempe, born Oct. 30, 1738, married Capt. William TUTTLE as above, died Apr. 26, 1822.
 Joseph, son of Capt. Daniel, was born 1758, married Esther PARKHURST Dec. 2, 1778, resided at New Vernon, NJ, died Apr. 10, 1802. His wife died Mar. 22, 1789, age 36. Children: Phebe, baptized Oct. 31, 1779; William, born Aug. 19, 1781; a child, born Oct. 27, 1783; Elizabeth and Jacob, twins, born Aug. 24, 1786.
 Jacob became a minister and married Elizabeth WARD, of Bloomfield, NJ, and had children: Rev. Samuel Lawrence, born at Bloomfield Aug. 15, 1815, died Apr. 16, 1866. Rev. Joseph Farrand, born at Bloomfield Mar. 18, 1818, married Susan, daughter of Rev. Barnabas KING, was his colleague many years at Rockaway, removed to Crawfordsville, Ind., as president of Wabash College, and is still resident.
 Joseph TUTTLE, son of Stephen, was born 1698, came to Hanover Neck 1734, married Abigail OGDEN, was squire, deacon and colonel, died 1789, and was buried at Whippany, NJ.
 Children: Ruth, married David KITCHELL; Samuel, born Sept. 22, 1724, married Sarah (FORD) KINNEY, died May 31, 1814. Moses, born Nov. 19, 1732, married Jane FORD, died July 11, 1819. (Children of Samuel and Moses, see FORD family.) Joseph married Jemima HAINES; David married Sarah COE."

 "Stephen TUTTLE, son of Joseph and Hannah (Munson) TUTTLE, was born May 20, 1673, at New Haven, Connecticut, and died in 1709. His will is dated October 20 17__, and recorded at Trenton, New Jersey, the same year, and also at Woodbridge, New Jersey. He went to New Jersey about 1700. He was a prominent member of the Hanover Presbyterian church, and helped to establish the church in his community, and largely supported it during his lifetime. He lived in Woodbridge, New Jersey and was constable in 1698. His will mentions every member of his family, apportioning to each his just share. He married, Septemer 12 1695, at Woodbridge, Ruth (Higgins) Fitz-Randolph (widow of Fitz-Randolph). The Higgins and Fitz-Randolph Families were considered the gentry in that section of New Jersey, and she was accounted a beautiful woman and a great matrimonial catch by the chroniclers of that day. Children: Timothy, of whom further; Joseph, Stephen, Samuel."
