 "Oliver Tuttle, b. June 16, 1787, d. Dec. 26, 1867; baptist minister; preached in Danbury, Conn.; rem. thence abt. 1809; preached in Utica, NY, and resided some time in Meredith (Delaware Co), NY; thence rem. to New Hartford, Oneida Co, NY, where he resided abt. 35 yrs. The probate of his estate on record at Utica, NY. He bought in New Hartford of Mrs. Cornelia Hunt 120 acres of land on the N. Hartford & Utica Road, now Genesee St., land very valuable. A few yrs. before his d. Mr. Tuttle divided his estate among his heirs. The part lying on the Bridgewater plank road is owned and occupied by his son, George R. Tuttle. He m. April 13, 1810, Lydia Ann Read, b. July 27, 1790; d. May 14, 1851; dau. of Rev. Amos. She came of a family of clergymen of whom is Rev. Daniel Read, LLD, President Shurtliff College."
