Note: Frederick Tuttle, c. 1883, p.322 "Ebenezer Lyman, Jr. was the first permanent resident of the town of Torrington, CT, son Ebenezer, Sr., Esq., of Denham, who followed his son to Torrington and was the first Deacon of the church (set apart 1 Jan 1742). The lot of Ebenezer, Jr. in the western part of the town has been called the Lyman place ever since. The fort was built upon it. On a small lot adjoining he built a log house in which was bor 16 Jun 1738, his daughter, Lydia, the first child born in the town so far as known."
