April 11, 1711, Martha Huthwitt.* She joined the Woodbury church March 9, 1729; he joined Aug. 9, 1730; d. 1753; lived on Main street in Southbury, Conn., near the present residence of his gret grandson, Deacon Sherman Tuttle. Children: 1. Lois b. 14 May 1713, m. 28 Jan 1742 Thomas Kimberly 2. Agnes, b. 11 Feb 1718, m. Obadiah Wheeler 3. Nathaniel, bap. Oct 1721, m. in his 58th year 22 Jul 1779, Currence Squier 4. Gideon, bap. 19 Feb 1727 5. Ichabod, bap. 1 Jun 1729, m. 27 Jun 1751 Sarah Prime 6. Huthwitt, bap. 8 Aug 1731, d. about 1785, unmarried 7. Gideon, bap. 8 Sep 1732, died same year 8. Gideon, b. 1 Nov 1733, m. Mary Stiles 9. Noah, bap. 29 Apr 1734, m. Susanna Smith 10. Nathan, bap. 15 Aug 1736, Yale College 1763, A.M.; m. Lydia Skeel; went to Rutland, VT; disappeared mysteriously, supposed to have been murdered (Cothren). Among the officers from Woodbury in 1759 was Lieut. Nathan Tuttle. Of the above family of 6 sons, 5 were in the service of their country. Gideon marched to the relief of Fort William Henry in 1757. Nathaniel, Ischabod and Noah were soldiers in t he Rev. Army." "John Huthwitt, of Scotch extraction, came in one of the early companies from Stratford to Woodbury, Conn. The legend is that he and his sister Ann (who m. Dr. John Pearce) were of gentle blood, and were left orphans at an early age under the guardianship of an uncle, avaricious and unprincipled, who, under pretence of securing them an education, sent them to New England, and afterwards squandered their property. John had his home lot in Southbury, where Mrs. Whitlock now resides. He m. Judith ___, - children: Elizabeth, bap. July 1689; 2. Anna, bap. Nov 1690, m. 1714 Ebenezer Squier; 3. Martha bap. Nov 1693, m. Hezekiah Tuttle; 4. Mary, bap. May 1696, m. 1714 Jehiel Preston; 5. Elizabeth b. Aprili 1698, m. 1717 Josiah Root. Olive Wheeler d. in Southbury, Conn., Feb. 5, 1864, age 90. Mary Ann Wheeler died in Woodbury, Conn., Sept. 30, 1768."
