  Short Bio:
 Stiles Edwin Tuttle was born at Vergennes, Addison County, Vermont on Aug 18, 1817 to parents Nathaniel Tuttle and Electa Chamberlain. In 1840 Stiles and his widowed mother, Electa were living at the home of his brother, Jirah Chamberlain Tuttle and wife Sarah at Monkton, Addison Co., Vermont. On Sept. 18th, 1852 Stiles married Martha Ann Duffy at Louisville, Jefferson, Co., Kentucky. They lived at the corner of Market and Jefferson St. in Louisville. The family moved shortly after their son, Walter born June 1856, to Springfield, Illinois and later that same year moved to Clinton Junction, Rock Co., Wisconsin. In 1860 Stiles his wife Martha and children Edwin, Walter, and Belle were living in what was now called the Town of Clinton, Rock Co., Wisconsin. His occupation at the time was as a master carpenter. Some time after his daughter, Carrie was born (May 1864), the family moved to Hastings, Minnesota. For a time Stiles was employed in government work at Devolves Bluff, Arkansas while the family stayed in Hastings. The family lived in several homes in town until 1865 when they moved to a farm in Ravenna a rural area southeast of town. This was a nine room house on 7 acres, with a large basement, barn, silo, and wired for electricity. About 1878 the family moved to a farm inside the city limits of Hastings. Stiles E. Tuttle died at his home in South Hastings Friday 17 Dec, 1897 from heart disease, after a protracted illness. He was a Christian gentleman, and held in high esteem by all the old settlers.
