"Alfred was a bank note engraver and taught the art to his newphew, John F. Kensett. He was about 1846-7 Chief Engineer N. Haven Fire Dept., finally an officer of the customs and died in New Haven in 1872. He married Nov. 26, 1829, Laura Gilbert, daughter of Elias, who died in North Haven, August 1875, age 87."
