Notes
a. Note:   Tuttle, printed & published by Tuttle & Co, Rutland, VT, 1883:
 p. 482-483
"Uri Tuttle, b. Cheshire, Conn., Oct. 31, 1765; not being able to work on the farm, he went to New Haven when about twenty years of age, and learned the trade of cabinet making which he followed during the rest of his life. Among some unpublished papers of Pres. Stiles, in possession of the N. Haven Col. Hist. Soc., are his notes of yellow fever cases in New Haven in 1794. "Uri Tuttle taken sick with yellow fever Oct. 2, 1794; Oct. 3, much better." He was somewhat above the average height in person, and well proportioned; his hair, a dark brown, never came out or changed its color; his excellent teeth remained sound to the last. His education was such as the common school of his native village afforded, supplemented by that of a great university--the world--in which all must study and learn, whether they will or not. He died Oct. 23, 1826, age 61."
"He married Jan. 10, 1793, MARGARET MORRISON of New Haven, born Feb. 5, 1767; died Oct. 17, 1813; married (2) June 26, 1814, CHARLOTTE (daughter of William and Elizabeth Baldwin) STOWE of Milford, Conn., born March 5, 1791; died in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the house of her son-in-law, HENRY HOWE, Nov. 23, 1870; buried in Spring Grove Cemetery. During her long life of nearly 80 years, she had no serious illness, and was as well as usual until within half an hour of her death."
