"Elizabeth Tuttle, b. April 23, 1819; resided at Burton, Ohio with her sister, Mary; died Sept. 14, 1865. "A very intelligent woman," said HENRY HOWE, in whose family at Cincinnati, Ohio, she visited a short time before her death. The fall of 1865 was a season of great mortality in Burton, from malignant dysentery. In the family of SILAS GAYLORD, consisting of some twenty-five or thirty persons, including farm hands and domestics, five were swept away within a few weeks. STEPHEN TUTTLE and his daughter, Elizabeth, died the same day. His grandson, FREDDIE GAYLORD, had died the previous month, and his granddaughter's husband, Charles Hawthorne, died five days after Stephen and Elizabeth."
