 Name: Enos Tuttle
 Birth: abt 1796 - CT
Death: Jan 1850 - Marshall CO., IN
According to his father's military pension records the family moved from Hamden to Pennsylvania in 1804. they stayed there for about 4 or 5 years then moved on to New York, where they lived for about 8 years. That would mean that they arrived in Clark Co., Indiana around 1816 or 1817. The Bensons arriived in Clark Co. around the same time, in fact it is possible that they traveled from New York together. Enos S. made his first land purchase on Aug. 10, 1819 when he purchased 131 acres from William Ferguson for $250.00. A month later, on Sept 5th he & Rhoda were married.
They remained in Clark Co. until the death of his father in 1843, when they moved from Clark Co. to Marshall Co., Ind. It appears that he was well accepted by the people of Marshall Co., because from Dec., 1844 until Sept., 1847 he was elected to serve as a County Commisioner. He was then elected in 1849 to serve in the Indiana State Legislature
representing Marshall & Fulton Counties. However, his political career was cut short by his death in Jan, 1850.
Rhoda remained in Marshall Co. appearing in the 1850 census as living on a farm valued at $400.00 with her 4 youngest children. In the 1860 census she is shown as living in Walnut Township of Marshall Co. & the farm is then valued at $1000.00. Mary Melvina is the only child remaining with her at that time.
They are both buried in Salem Cemetery which is located a little south of Inwood, Indiana.
