Note: Tuttle, printed & published by Tuttle & Co., Rutland, VT, 1883: p.522 "Harvey Tuttle, b. Dec. 1, 1794, at Goshen, Conn.; served at Plattsburgh and in northern Vermont as volunteer in war of 1812; removed to Michigan 1818 and took up land near Detroit. Was some time paymaster of U.S. troops; afterward hotel keeper and farmer in Livonia, Michigan, and died May 16, 1827; married 1816 Rhoda, daughter of David Sanford of Castleton, Vt., b. Oct. 31, 1798, died July 13, 1817; m. (2) in 1823, Mrs. Jeannette M. Richardson, nee Pettingill of Greene Co., N.Y., widow of Elijah R. of Livonia, Mich., b. 1791; d. March 27, 1827; her daughter, Jane Richardson, m. Warren Tuttle, brother of Harvey; issue by 1st marriage: 1. Albert Sanford, b. at Castleton, Vt., June 21, 1817; clerk in Manchester and Sunderland, Vt. In the former place was thrown from a carriage; leg broken, and lame ever after. In 1836 went to N. Y. city, and after a few years as clerk, became a member of the firm. He afterward established a dry goods jobbing house, but compelled by ill health to give it up. Traveled South, and with health improved opened in Hackettstown, N. J., a retail store, and doing a large and profitable business at the time of his death, Dec. 16, 1855. "A prudent, honest, energetic man." He married July 1, 1845, Charlotte C., daughter of Samuel Moulton of Castleton, Vt., b. Nov. 23, 1815. Children: 1. Albert, b. April 15, 1846; clerk in banks at Castleton, Vt., and Troy, N.Y., several years; now in slate business at Fair Haven, Vt.; m. Sept. 9, 1869, Emily A., daughter of John D. Goodwin of Fair Haven, born at Castleton, Vt., Dec. 31, 1849; one child: Edith Goodwin, b. Sept. 9, 1870. 2. Mary Moulton, b. at Hackettstown, N.J., June 7, 1854."
