Note: Tuttle, printed & published by Tuttle & Co., Rutland, VT, 1883: p.529 -- footnote "Michael McClellan came from Londonderry County, North of Ireland, 1749, and settled as a farmer in Coleraine, Franklin Co., Mass. The farm remained in possession of his descendants till 1873. He married Jane Henry and had Hugh, b. in Ireland, April 4, 1744, came over with his father; was a Captain of Mass. Minute Men in Rev. war and served with his Co. as a scout, and as such was attached to the army of Gen. Gates, but was not present at battle of Bemis Heights, being off on an expedition for cutting off Burgoyne's comu. with Canada. He was a decided Presbyterian and belonged to the Scotch church. He married Sarah Wilson and had ten children, of whom eight reached maturity. His son, Samuel, married Laura Hannah Cook."
