The Tuttles were associated with the two towns in Madison Co., NY, Lenox and Brookfield. Lenox owes its beginings to the Erie Canal. Construction began in 1819, just a year before Abraham Tuttle and family are found there in the 1820 federal census. As a result of construction, businesses sprouted and the town expanded quickly. Brookfield had abundant natural resources, but land purchased by a few early settlers who refused to sell, impeded the settlement of many others seeking their own land, who then moved further west. From Madison, the Tuttles moved into western neighbor counties of Onandago and Cortland by at least 1828, remaining there but fourteen years before resettling to Lorain Co., Ohio, for the of the balance of Abraham's life.
  OBITUARY:
 Obituary in Elyria:
"On the day previous to his death, the deceased was in the village on business, in the enjoyment of his usual health, and during the afternoon was attacked with the disease, which, after a few hours of intense suffering, terminated his life. He was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, and has been a resident of this township for 21 years, during which time he has sustained the character of an honest, upright, christian citizen. In all that relates to the duties of life, as father, husband, neighbor, citizen, few had less faults; and he has gone down to the grave in ripe years, lamented as only those are, who weigh all their life actions in the scale of justice, and live in accordance with the teachings of the Golden Rule."
