Note: Ohio genealogy Express JACOB BOOK, farmer, P. O. Spencerville, was born in Marion County, Ohio, July 24, 1844; son of John and Catherine (Epley) Book, natives of Germany, who were the parents of nine children of whom Jacob is sixth. John Book came to America in 1821, and located in Marion County, Ohio; he is now retired from active life, a resident of Van Wert County, Ohio; his wife died in 1878. Our subject was married, March 28, 1871, to Isabel Masters, who was born in Clermont County, Ohio, July 22, 1850, daughter of William and Malinda (Ross) Masters, of VanWert County. She has borne him six children: John F., Nancy C. (deceased), William H., deceased), James A., Joseph A. and Rosa E. (twins). Mr. Book is one of of the most influential men of the township, and, as the appearance of his farm denotes, is a practical farmer. He aims to excel, and to produce and to have the best to sell. Having been reared on a farm, his educational advantages were necessarily limited to the common schools. Although not an office seeker he is a leader of the Democratic party in this vicinity; is an active member of Jennings Grange, No. 1320. He came to Spencer Township, with his parents in 1863, and in 1871 purchased the homestead where he still lives.
