He was born Jan 16, 1900, in Monticello, a son of Charles and Minnie (Wolford) Shaffer. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Bryan Shaffer, whom he married in 1943; a son, John G. Shaffer of 105 W. Sycamore St, Van Wert; a step-daughter, Mrs. John (Deloris) Renner of Rt. 1, Elida; a grandchild; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John W. Shaffer of 621 W. Elm, Lima; and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Glenna) Wisher of Toledo. He was a member of the Spencerville American Legion, Olive Chapel United Methodist Church, and a retired employee of the state highway department.
