Note: BIOGRAPHY: For Poetry R.R. - 3-8-64 Bobbie Jean Bedgood was born in McComb, Mississippi, Oct. 17, 1928. Moved to a farm in Summit, Miss, when she was two. Lived there for four years. moved to Muskegon, Michigan in March 1934 with father, mother, sister & brother. in Spring of 1936 she had a bad case of scarlet fever and polio - which left her with a curvature of the spine. Was in and out of hospital for several years. Wore a cast from top of her head to her knees for over a year. Spent another year strapped to a hard frame bed with weights on her head. Through out all this she was sweet cheerful and an inspiration to all that came into contact with her. She was a very sweet gentle person and knew & loved the Lord very personally. She went to school through the eighth grade, had to drop out then because she was not able to climb stairs to go from class room to class room in a hurry. The teachers thought so much of her they were willing to come to the house & instruct her - which they did for a while. She loved poetry & prose. Spent a good deal of her time reading. She belonged to a local writer's group & enjoyed writing children's stories. Never had any published, however. She loved birds & animals. Had her own special bird feeder & kept a catalogue on species that visited it. For last six years of her life she had a siamese cat. They were always together. She was always cheerful and helpful. Her one complaint in life was that she didn't have time to do all the things she wanted to do. She crocheted & embroidered also. Was asways busy at something. Was a very good cook also. Did not have very m uch strength, but made every bit count for something good. She went to church & Sunday school every week. Had pins for perfect attendance for 15 years. Then sickness made it so she couldn't go every Sunday. But she went shen she could. Her last attack came on Sunday morn. & all way to hospital in ambulance she kept talking of having to miss s.s. & church. She died Sunday June 12th 1960 at 8:20 p.m. This was written by her mother, Evelyn Bethea Bedgood for her poetry group.
