The handiwork of God was evident throughout Janet’s life from the time she was born to the late Ross and Harriet Snuffer (Visscher) on a happy day (May 25, 1930 in Chicago, Il) until the last day of her remarkable life.
Janet graduated from North Muskegon High School in 1948 and studied at the Hackley School of Nursing, graduating in 1951. She then began a wonderful career, which included many years as a visiting nurse (VNA), but her greatest love was always her family.
Janet married the late Robert Francis Bedgood Jr. on March 28, 1952. In time, this devoted union spanning 62 years, brought 7 children who loved her deeply and joyfully cared for her in her later years, much in the same way she nurtured and guided them.
Janet was incomparable as a Mom, family matriarch and keeper of all things important to family ties. She carved her life template in a positive, Christ-centered and caring way. She was immensely proud of each of her children and grandchildren and talking about them was her favorite pastime. Her sense of humor sustained her always and there is nothing she enjoyed more than anticipating the punchline in a story. She had a heart that embraced everyone and she loved to surprise those she loved with random gifts, just because.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert and her 4th daughter, Julie (Dennis) French. She truly was the “Queen of us” and will be lovingly remembered by her children, Laurie and Jim Peterson of Whitehall, MI, Lyn and Steve Johnson of Kent City, MI, Suzie and Ron Woodward of Chester, CT, David and Barb Bedgood of Sparta, MI, Karen and Les Cameron of Tomball, TX and Becky and Lou Heidel of Somers, MT; son in law, Bruce Wagenmaker; 17 dearly loved grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Paul (Judy) Snuffer, Dan (Ann) Snuffer, Bob (Alice) Snuffer,her sisters in law, Margaret (James) Hamill, Evelyn Croskey, Terry (Phillip) Snuffer, Phyllis Bedgood; many nieces and nephews.
Janet’s celebration of a life well lived, will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, April 18 at Bailey Christian Church, 17635 Pearl Street, Bailey, MI. Inurnment Laketon Twp. Cemetery, North Muskegon, MI. Friends may meet the family at the church on Thursday at 11 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the family, for a chosen charity near and dear to Janet’s giving heart.
