OBITUARY: Hamill, Mr Robert James, North Muskegon
Mr Robert James Hamill, Sr, aged 84, went home to be with his Father August 15, 2006. He was born in Shelby, MI on November 6, 1921, and was preceded in death by his partnts, Ret O Hamill and Emily E Harrison Hamill, both of Shelby, Michigan; two brothers, John Harrison Hamill and Grant Raymond Hamill; three sisters, Audrey Vere Cooper, Rita Mae Hipkiss, and Freda Grace Larson. Mr Hamill grew up in Queens, New York. He attended New York University before moving back to Oceana County in 1942 where he helped his father on his fruit farjm. He was active in baseball in the local Shelby leagues. He worked as a Chemist at Continental Motors (Teledyne) in Muskegon for 31 years and retired in 1981. The Hamills lived in Muskegon and Norton Shores for thirty years before building their retirement home on Stony Lake in Oceana County in 1981. They moved to Laketon Township in 2003. Mr Hamill had an active mind and great curiosity about mechanical things. He secured a patent on a piece of farm machinery, and worked on several other ideas to improve mechanical devices.
SURVIVORS
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret C Bedgood Hamill, his children, Marilyn, of Grand Rapids, Robert J Jr., of Muskegon, Douglas, of Muskegon, Jeffrey (Vicki), of Fremont, and Ronald (Holly) Hamill of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Melissa Lohman (Shawn), Kimberly Theodore, Christina Wistler (Robert), Krystal Hamill, Sarah Hamill and Ryan Hamill.
SERVICE
The funeral will be Friday, August 18, 2006, 1:00 PM at CLock Funeral Home-Muskegon with Rev Scott Van Arendonk officiating. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery.
VISITATION
Friday, one hour prior to the service at Clock Funeral Home-Muskegon.
