  Bertha's obituary as published on page 10 of "The Ponca City News " (Ponca City, OK) on Tuesday, 3 April 1961:
  Bertha Denton-Hutchinson-Pitts Dies After Short Illness.
 Mrs. Bertha Mae Pitts, 55 [sic], of 1027 North First, died this morning at the Ponca City Hospital following a short illness. She was born May 26, 1905 [sic] at Ardenola, Mo., and as a small child moved with her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. H. C. Stewart, to Stigler, where she received her education. She was married to J. E. Denton at Stigler and they established their home on a farm near there. She lived also at Drumright and Sapulpa before moving to Texas. Later she returned to Sapulpa , where she was married to Nestor Pitts in September 1941. Mrs. and Mrs. Pitts came to Ponca City in May 1945. Mrs. Pitts was a member of the Central Baptist Church and had been active in Red Cross work during war times, receiving several medals for the many sweaters she knitted. Surviving her are two sons: E. F. Denton, 319 Belmont, and Curtis C. Denton, Salem, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. M. W. Krouse, Griffin, Ind. ; two brothers, Ralph Stewart, Centralia, Ill., and H. A. Stewart, Shawnee; three sisters, Mrs. Zena [sic] Williams, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs . Ruby Walker, Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Edith Kembel [sic], Long Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pitts preceded his wife in death. Services are pending and will be announced by the Grace Memorial Chapel. The family will be at the E. F. Denton ho me, 319 Belmont.

 Thursday Rites Set For Bertha M. Denton-Hutchinson-Pitts. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Grace Memorial Chapel for Mrs. Bertha Mae Pitts, 65 [sic] of 1027 North First, who died Monday morning in the Ponca City Hospital following a short illness. The Rev.Carl Bush, pastor of Central Baptist Church, will officiate, and burial will be in the Christus Garden of Sunset Memorial Gardens (on Ok Hwy 60 East of Ponca City). Mrs. Pitts was born May 26, 1895, at Ardeola, Mo., and moved to Ponca City in 1945. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, one daughter, two brothers, three sisters, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will be at the E. F. Denton home, 319 Belmont, Ponca City, Oklahoma.
