  Area Man Dies, 2 Others Injured in Car Collision:
 James H. Carknard, 18, of Valley Falls is dead and two other area men are in Leonard Hospital, Troy, following an auto collision yesterday (May 15, 1946) on Route 32 in Stillwater, just north of the Mechanicville city line. State Police said lights failed on a sedan being driven north by Charles D. King....and it collided head-on with a car being driven south....Carknard, who was riding with King, died at 5:30am at Leonard Hospital....
  Note: Family records and eye-witness accounts indicate that he was dead at the scene of the accident.
