Vanderpool, father of E.H. Vanderpool of this city, died at Wellington, Kansas, last Friday following a stroke of apoplexy. The doctor was a resident of Wetupka and had been called to Kansas on a professional duty. He died 13 hours after he was stricken and a telegram announcing his death was the first information his son here received. Dr. Vanderpool was born in Arkansas, October 27, 1857, where he lived until early manhood and married to which union was born six boys and 2 girls, all of whom are living with the exception of one boy and one girl. More than 20 years ago the family went to California and later to Wetumpka. Mrs. Vanderpool left a few weeks ago for California and it was the intention of the doctor to join her there this week. The deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the Methodist Church and he Masonic and Oddfellow Lodges. The remains were brought to Checotal for burial, service being held Monday aft ernoon at the home of E.H. Vanderpool. Rev. W.L. Hickburn in charge assisted by the Masons. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery south of the city.
