Notes
a. Note:   N3611 Goulder Fields was born (according the dates on his gravestone) 16 May 1846 in Walker County. He was known to his family as "Dude", how the nickname came about is not known.
  Golder Losson (Lawson) is enumerated with his parents, Vinyard and Julian Losson (Lawson), in the 1850 Walker County, Alabama Census taken in the 11th District, 4 December 1850. His age is given 5 years and born in Alabama. Bruce Myers` personal notes in his 1850 Census states, Goulder Lawson married a great aunt of mine, Ellen Brannan, the daughter of James Monroe Brannan. I believe that Goulder married a Norris the second time.
  Guolder Losson is enumerated with Vinyard and Jula A. Losson in the 1860 Western Division, Post Office Holly Grove, Walker County, Alabama Census. His age is given as 16 years and born in Alabama.
  In the 1867 Voting Registration Loyalty Oaths, taken 19 July 1867, Goolder F. Losson (Goulder F. Lawson) indicated he was born 16 May 1843 in Walker County, Alabama.
  Goolder and Eleneler Losson were listed 16th June 1870, Fayette County Census. His age is given as 24 and born in Alabama.
  Golder F. and Elendery J. Losson were listed in the 1880 Fracional Township 12, Range 10, Walker County, Alabama Census. Goulder's age is given as 33 years and born in Alabama. Indicates his father was born in Alabama and mother in Kentucky.
  Goulder and Martha J. were listed in the 1900 Precinct 4, Cagles, Walker County, Alabama Census, taken 16 June 1900. Goulder's birth date is given as May, 1844, age 56 years, married for 12 years and born in Alabama.
  Goulder F. and Martha J. Lawson are listed in the 1910 Walker County Census. They have 5 children and Sallie Wilson, Goulder's stepdaugher, living with them. Goulder's age is given as 63 years and born in Alabama.
  Goulder and Martha Lawson are listed in the 1920 Walker County Census. Floyd, their son is living with them. Goulder's age is given as 73 years and born in Alabama.
  From the land records in the Walker County Court House in Jasper, I found the following land transaction for Goulder, it is listed as Winston County but in the document it stated Walker County, maybe it was filed in Winston?;- For the sum of $175.00 Joseph and Rutha Norris sold to G.F. Lasson the W1/2 of the NW1/4 of Section 20, Township 12, Range 9 West of Walker County, also the E1/2 of the SE1/4 of NE1/4 the S1/2 of the NE1/4 of Section 28, Township 12, Range 9 West, dated 15 January 1878. These pieces of land are close to the city limits of Nauvoo (as it is today). The first one is on the west side and the second is on the south side. Need to review this document, because the picture I had of it was hard to read and the section numbers could be wrong.
  Goulder Fields and Mary Ellen Brannon Lawson sold to Marion A. Addison the SW1/4 of NE1/4, Section 8, Township 12, Range 9W, 39.99 acres, on 5 February 1887, located in Winston County, Alabama.
  From the marriage records in the Walker County Court House in Jasper, I obtained a copy of Goulding Lawson and Martha Jane Barton's marriage certificate. It states they were married 3 February, 1889 at the Springhill Church. Bond for the marriage is signed for by Goulding Lawson and Reubin Norris and witness by R. Colburn. This was the second marriage for both Goulder and Martha. Interesting how Goulder's name is spelled on the certificate.
  Goulder, his wife Martha, and daughter Quean V. are buried in the Norris Cemetery about one mile north of Springhill.

 The State of Alabama
 Walker County
  Before me, the undersigned authority in and for said County in said State personally appear G. F. Lawson, who being duly sworn deposes and says that he is a son of Vinyard Lawson, deceased, who entered or purchased from the United States the following described lands in Walker County, Alabama:
 South West quarter of South West quarter, Section 28;
 South East quarter of South East quarter, Section 29;
 North East quarter of North East quarter; South West quarter of North East quarter; North half of South East quarter, Section 32;
 North West quarter of North West quarter, North West quarter of South West quarter, Section 33; all in Township 14 South of Range 8 West.
  Further deposing affiant says that his father died about the years 1892, that his name was spelled both Losson and Lawson; and while he has been informed that the patents to some parts of the above described lands were issued in the name of Vinyard Losson and the patents to other portions of said lands were issued in the name of Vinyard Lawson, all of said lands were entered or purchased by the same person, who was his father; and that said lands were afterwards sold by the Sheriff under a levy against his father.
  Further deposing affiant says that his father had the following children vis; this affiant, G. F. Lawson, Albert G. Lawson, Ben (Vin) Lawson, Zilpha Davis, Sallie Myers and Nancy J. Hunt, all of whom are dead except this affiant and Nancy J. Hunt, who after the death of her husband, Jim Hunt, married a man by the name of Morgan, but he does not know where she is now living. That Ben (Vin) Lawson, left the following children: Gabe (Jabe) Lawson, Betty Lawson, G. L. Lawson, and Josie Lawson, who married Grief Johnson; and they are all living some where near Tallehaney (Talihina), Oklahoma. That Zilpha Davis left one daughter who married George McLain, and is living some where in Mississippi, present address unknown. That Sallie Myers left two children, viz.; Lawrence Myers and Julia Myers, who married a man by the name of Love. That Albert G. Lawson died about two years ago and left one son, now living at Galloway, his name being John Lawson, and 5 daughters viz., Julia A. Coleman (Colburn), Martha J. McDaniel (McDonald), Sarah Johnson, Louvena Freeman and Arb Lawson, the above named children and grandchildren are all of the heirs of Vinyard Lawson, deceased, as far as this affiant recollects.
  It was sworn and subscribed to before A. L. Wall Notary Public, on the 20th day of March 1913 by G. F. Lawson. James W. Shepherd, Judge of Probate, certified that the conveyance was file in the Court House for record 12 March 1913 and recorded in Deed Record 159, page 35 and examined.
  Know all men by these presents, that in consideration of the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) to each of the undersigned heirs at law of Vinyard Lawson, deceased, in hand paid by the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad Company, receipt whereof is acknowledge, we do remise, release, quit-claim and convey to the said Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Company all our rights, title, interest and claim in or to all the coal, iron ore and other minerals in, under and upon the following described lands, to-wit:
 North West quarter of the South West quarter of Section Thirty Three (33) Township Fourteen (14) South of Range Eight (8) West in Walker County, Alabama.
 Also all mining rights and privileges as were heretofore conveyed in said lands by Thomas Davis and wife to Thomas Peters in Deed dated January 2, 1892 and recorded in the office of the Judge of Probate of Walker County, Alabama, in Deed Record Vol. 4, page 119.
  No part of the above conveyed lands is any part of the homestead of the undersigned grantors.
  To have and to hold to the said Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Company, its successors and assigned forever.
  In witness whereof, we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 20th day of March 1913.
  Signed by G. F. Lawson and M. J. (her mark) Lawson.
  It was great to find this document because it listed most of Vinyard`s children and some of his grandchildren. I assumed Goulder listed only the living grand children in most cases. He listed all his sisters and brother except Julia Ann, who I believe died very young.
  Goulder`s brother Vin (Vinyard) was called Ben and one of Vin`s children was called Gabe instead of Jabe and he missed one of Vin`s sons, William David Lawson. Not sure but we believe Betty Lawson is Arvenzenia B. (Lawson) Fike.
  Have found no information on Zilpha Davis.
  Have found little information on Nancy J. Hunt. I know she had three children Mary Elizabeth, I. Eldna and Julia A. Hunt and that her husband James Robert Powell Hunt died 1879 in the Indian Territory (Oklahoma).
  Sallie (Sarah) Myers had at least six children and Goulder only mention two.
  Sallie (Sarah) Myers' had at least six children and Goulder only mention two. Her children were Sarah Julian, Nancy Jane, James Vinyard, Luquilia T., William Lawrence and Mary C. Myers.
  Albert had two boys and seven girls. Julia Ann`s married name was Colburn, not Coleman, Martha Jane`s married name was McDonald not McDaniel and he missed Savannah K. Carver who I know was alive at that time. There was a Mahala E. but I have found no information on her, so she may have died young. Lastly, there was a Thomas W. but I know he was dead before 1913 and may have been the reason he was not listed.
