Notes
a. Note:   N3703 A Golder T. Losson is with Golder F. and Elendery J. Losson in the 1880 Fracional Township 12, Range 10, Walker County, Alabama Census. His age is given as 8 years and born in Alabama.
Thomas and Martha E. were listed in the 1900 Precinct 5, Range 10, Carbon Hill, Walker County, Alabama Census. Thomas' birth date is given as Aug 1870, age 29, married for 6 years and born in Alabama.
Thomas G. and Elizabeth Lawson are enumerated in the 1910 District 175, Precinct 5, Carbon Hill, Walker County, Alabama Census. His age is given as 39 years, married once for 16 years and born in Alabama.
Thomas and Martha Lawson are enumerated in the 1920 Precinct 5, Eldridge (Galloway-Carbon Hill Road) , Walker County, Alabama Census. Age is given as 48 years and born in Alabama.
Tom G. and Martha E. Lawson are enumerated in the 1930 District 9, Precinct 5, Carbon Hill, excluding Carbon Hill City, Walker County, Alabama Census. His age is given as 58 years, was 22 years when first married and born in Alabama.
According to Thomas' death certificate, he was born 26 Aug. 1872 (this is different than what's on his gravestone, it has 26 Aug. 1871?) in South Lowell, Alabama. Age was 66 years, 4 months and 24 days. He married Martha Elizabeth ('Betsy') Henson daughter of James Henson and Sarah E. ('Sally') Ingles (Newsletter #19, page 165).
When Robert Henson sold John V. Lawson 15 acres of land, there was a mistake made on the Section number. This was cleared up in an affidavit filed 29 August 1922 and witnessed by a T.G. Lawson who stated he was well acquainted with Robert Henson. The affidavit also states that T.G. Lawson had lived in Carbon Hill for 40 years when he signed it.
It would be my guess that the T.G. Lawson in the affidavit above is Thomas Goulder Lawson. This would also indicate to me that his wife Martha Elizabeth ('Betsy') Henson was a relative of Robert Henson. Her father was a James Henson. Robert Henson had a brother by that name, therefore Robert could be Betsy's uncle.
Thomas' half brother, Arthur married Nellie Mae Henson. She was the granddaughter of Robert and the daughter of Barney Gus Henson.
In Virginia F. Lawson's research papers, she states that there was a man named Cyrus Garnsey of Senaca Falls, New York connected with the Galloway Coal Company (for which Thomas Goulder worked), she did not know in what way. However, Thomas Goulder thought enough of him to name his second son Cyrus Mosley "Rex" (Virginia indicated she did not know where the Mosley came from) and his third son Garnsey. When she married Rex in 1934, he had an address for Mr. Garnsey, who was retired then, and used to send him cards at Christmas. She could remember hearing that Thomas Goulder (called "Tom") was a tall, broad shouldered man (before his illness), probably six feet or more, light brown hair, weighed around 200 pounds. He was a good father and business man and loved his family. He was of the Baptist Faith and a Mason - Carbon Hill Lodge #494.
Thomas Goulder (spelled Goolder on his death certificate and following data from that source), had spent 34 years working as Stable Boss for the Galloway Coal Company and had last worked in 1929. He died 19 January 1939, 6;30 PM at his home in Carbon Hill. At the time of death he was 66 years, 4 months and 24 days old. Certificate states that he had lived for 33 years at place where death occurred, and named Martha E. Lawson as his wife. So he came to Carbon Hill about 1903; Betsy had been there since 1897. Information from the death certificate was furnished to Virginia by his daughter, Iva Lawson Guthrie. He was buried 21 January 1939 at Pisgah Cemetery, in Carbon Hill.
  Dates on his gravestone are - Aug 26, 1871 - May 18, 1939.
In the marriages records at the Winston County Court House, it indicates Thomas G. Lawson married Mary E. Henson, 15 March 1894 at Wm. M. Jackson's residence.
