a. Note:   Vivian I. Highman, 83, 694 Katherine Ave., Ashland, died at her residence Monday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2000.
 She was born on Aug. 17, 1917, in Graysville, Ohio the daughter of William Bryan and Lela Mae Cline Harmon, and she had been a resident of Ashland County since 1934.
 For more than 60 years she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church; she also was a member of the United Gleaners Sunday School Class.
 She managed the Ashland Laundry Basket on East Main Street for 10 years.
 On Oct. 21, 1933, she was married to Chester E. Highman who survives her. She also is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Stan Ryland of Loudonville; two grandchildren, Rick Ryland of Brecksville, Ohio; and Robin Ryland of Chandler Ariz.; and three great-grandchildren, Melanie, Paul and David; and one sister Donna McCracken of Woodsfield, Ohio.
 She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wilma Taylor.
 Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. from Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park.
 Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home.
 The family suggests that memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1140 Claremont Ave., Ashland, Ohio 4 4805, or to Hospice of North Central Ohio Inc., 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
