Note: NEW MATAMORAS, Ohio - Don Cochran Amos, 73, of 75 Carson Road, New Matamoras, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2006) at his residence. He was born April 21, 1933, at New Matamoras to Arch and Irene E. Cochran Amos. He graduated from Matamoras High School in 1951. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was an ironworker and was a member of Ironworkers Local 549 in Wheeling, W.Va., and American Legion Post 760 in Hannibal, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Elrod Amos, whom he married on April 28, 1956; one daughter, Kimberly Oldfield and her husband, Doug, of New Matamoras; one son, Michael Amos and his wife, Mary, of Keene, N.H.; three grandsons, Justin Oldfield and his fiancee, Leighann Fry, of New Matamoras, and Robert and Timothy Oldfield of New Matamoras; two sisters, Helen Amos of Summerfield, Ohio, and Ruth Heiney of Beavertown, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Debbie Amos; and a niece, Katie Amos. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jack S. and Robert F. Amos. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 5, 2006) at Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin Wegner officiating. Burial will be in Matamoras Cemetery with graveside military services to be conducted. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
