  Jane (Jennie) Vanderpool was born in 1779 at North Carolina; or Virginia; Jennie reported her age as 70 in the 1850 census and 71 in a November 1850 affidavit, indicating a date of birth in the latter half of 1779; she gave her place of birth as Virginia in the 1850 census. Although her father did not appear in the 1779 Washington County, NC tax list, he appeared in the 1782 tax list for Wilkes County.
