Note: Oregon State Archives: Name: Vanderpool, Henry T Date: 1895 Record Type: Census County: Morrow Case#: Vol 2 pg 048 Home in 1900: Lower Boise, Canyon, Idaho Henry Vanderpool, 30, Oct 1869, OR-SC-IA, Married 1 year, Laborer Mary E Vanderpool, 43, Jun 1856, IL-NC-VA, Children 1/1 Warren E Harrold, Son, 20, Jul 1879, KS-MO-IL, Laborer At the time the 1900 census was taken Henry and Mary were living next to or with his brother, Marion Pomroy in Idaho. Henry & Mary Harrold later lived about 6 miles SW of Parma, Idaho, on the east bank of the Snake River and then moved to Waldport, OR where Henry was a commercial fisherman. Dad says: "I don't think Uncle Henry was too work brittle--I know up in Idaho, he worked a little and fished & hunted a lot. I would imagine it was the same when they moved to Waldport--I think they moved around 1912. Aunt Mary was tops. I remember when she would get out her corn cob pipe and fill it with Missouri Cork Cake. That was leaf tobacco that came in cotton sacks--probably held around a gallon to 1 & 1/2 gallons. You had to crumple up the leaves and put them into the pipe. She would sit in her favorite rocker, fill her pipe and light it and then had the most satisfied look. She was rather large, but a nice looking woman.
