Sonny Vanderpool's comment: The above should prove that Winant was still alive as late as 1799 - while some note that he died in 1795 in Rowan Co., North Carolina. I believe he died after 1810 in Ashe Co. Perhaps he is the one who lived to be 100 years old. Wynant Vanderpool served in the Revolutionary War as a patriot and is listed in the Military Index as follows: Whining (Wynant) (NC-patriot), b. ca 1747 NJ, d. after 1810 = Naomi (Amy) Kinman, Patriotic Service. VII:167; 257. DAR Patriot Index, p. 3021. Photocopied records at the State Archives, Raliegh, North Carolina and transcribed and emailed by Charles M. Hansen on April 04, 1999 from MXPH25A@@prodigy.com are as follows: Wynant Vanderpool furnished corn and fodder for American forces in the Revolutionary War, as shown on Voucher number 666, Accounts of the United States of America for Sunries frunished Militia of North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina, as alioed (sic) by Brown, McKissic and Miller, auditors of Salisbury District, January 1782 as per report number 40. http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/45873464/person/6939241680/mediax/2?pgnum=1&pg=0&pgpl=pid|pgNum I have searched for this information about old Wynant being a doctor and living to be 110-115 years of age -- with no success. I believe he was dead before 1840 (maybe even by 1830) and he probably died at a daughter's home -- perhaps the Pittman's? Suspect he died in Kentucky or Tennessee. Highly unlikely he was a doctor and most of these stories about ancestors living past the century mark are incorrect. Not impossible, but if you notice in the censuses, how the "old" people will age even more so with each census. Guess they were proud to be "old". I've been hopeful that some old newspaper might mention Wynant -- if he lived to be an old, old man, but ... still looking. (Myra Vdp Gormley, Vanderpool Descendants Website, 12/31/10) DNA evidence shows you’re likely a descendant of Wynant Vanderpool because you are part of his DNA Circle, which includes 33 of his probable descendants.
