Notes
a. Note:   She was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church of Ashe Co. NC until 17 Sept 1830. Both Amy and Thomas were received "by experience" on the third Saturday of October 1814. Amy was "restored to fellowship" on the second Saturday of October in 1823, and on 17 Sept 1830 Amy applied for letter of dismission and it was granted to her according to Cove Creek Baptist Church records. Thomas Swift had been "excluded" from Cove Creek Baptist Church in 1821. According to the church minutes, "Sister Dotson brought an allegation against Thomas Swift 'that he had flew from a contract with her.'" The contract was that she had hired his wife (Amy) to weave two bedcovers and Amy had then hired her sisters to weave them. Sister Dotson returned them to Amy and complained that "they were not weaved good." Thomas agreed to find wool, Dotson would spin it and Amy would weave one more for her, "and then he flew from it and would not suffer his wife to weave it.'"
