Winfred O. Vanderpool, 89, of Ashland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 14, 2004, at his residence. He was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Lakeville, Ky., a son of the late D.J. and Ada Teel Vanderpool. He was a retired pipefitter for Local 248 and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 42 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Josephine Higgins Vanderpool on Dec. 5, 2000. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, James Eldon Vanderpool, E.T. "Pete" Vanderpool, Jesse L. Vanderpool and Carl J. Vanderpool. Surviving are one daughter, Judy A. Lucas and her husband, Gary, of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, James L. Vanderpool and his wife, Jeanie, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Stanley G. Vanderpool and his wife, Janet, of Ashland; a special nephew, Jesse L. Vanderpool and his wife, Earlena of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Harold Vanderpool and his wife, Mae, of Centerville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Cheryl A. Ferring and her husband, Tom, of Centerville, Susan L. Wintersheimer and her husband, Craig, of Lakeside Park, Ky., David A. McDonald and his wife, Amy of Clemmons, N.C., Scott A. McDonald and his wife, Hope, of Lexington, Matthew O. Vanderpool and his wife, Kristi, of Lexington and James Brandon Vanderpool and his fiancee, Michaela Griffith of Ashland; and six great-grandchildren, Daniel Ferring, Rachel Ferring, Adam Wintersheimer, Benjamin McDonald, Thomas McDonald, and Asher Vanderpool. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Curtis McComis and the Rev. Owen Miller.
