While attending Wesleyan, she made some lifelong friends who called themselves, “The Wesleyan Girls.” Their friendship endured all life events and continued still. She lived on the farm until moving into Seneca Sunrise in Ravenna. Velma was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Sodtown and later Ravenna United Methodist Church, where she played piano and organ and participated in Bible study groups. She was involved in 4-H and a square dance club and was an extension club member. She enjoyed playing and teaching piano, games and puzzles of all types, collecting spoons, bowling and attending her grandchildren’s music and sporting events.
