Note:   Or Lizzie. She was one of the students rescued by their teacher Minnie Mae Freeman in the terrible blizzard of 12 January 1888 in Ord. Their sod schoolhouse was being ripped apart by the howling winds. Miss Freeman, then still in her teens, saved the children by leading them through the ripping storm and temperatures of 30 to 40 below zero Fahrenheit to a wooden farmhouse a half mile away. This event is depicted in a mural in the Nebraska state capitol.
