Note:   Christian owned 160 acres in Section 10, Hancock Township, Wayne County, Nebraska. He was a charter member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winside Nebraska (organized 1890, edifice built 1891). He was probably the Christian Krüger who was selected as the mayor (Schulze) of Butzig during a period of land claim troubles with the local farmer Johann Gutzmann. On 15 May 1865, Gutzmann, having been named mayor, armed his farmhands with clubs and took possession of the village pond, which he claimed had become his family's property in 1835. On 15 July 1865, Christian was sworn in as mayor instead, having been selected by the village. Gutzmann won his case in court, and thereupon claimed another land parcel as his, erected a fence around it and cut its trees down. This case, too, was handled by the Regierungspräsidium in Marienwerder. Christian emigrated in 1885. He died of heart trouble.
