Note:   Also listed as Dietrich Hermann Heinrich Christoph Brethauer. Master baker. He was born in Steinhude Nr. 5, lived in a house/bakery at Steinhude Nr 138. This house, built in 1842, later came into the Rintelmann family, and was eventually torn down about 1970. He was slightly lame in the left leg, which excused him from military service. He learned the baker's profession in Wunstorf. On his marriage in 1842, his father gave him three parcels of land, in two of which the father retained rights until his death, and the use of half his garden land. In 1849-50 he sought but was refused permission to operate a pub in addition to his bakery. He contemplated emigration to America, but didn't due to his health. He died of phthisis or pulmonary tuberculosis.
