Note:   Charles or Charlie. He was confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church near Lyons in 1892. In 1900 he was working and boarding on his brother-in-law Henry Roeber's farm in Logan township, Dixon County. For a short time he lived in a small place on the northwest edge of Plainview. He registered for the draft on 12 Sep 1918, where the registrar noted that he was not farming but rather working as a thresher and corn sheller and tractor plow man. In 1940 he lived near or with his brother John Nikolaus in Scollard, Oregon.
